ABOUT THE GAUTRAIN

Gautrain is an 80-kilometre (50 mi) commuter rail system in Gauteng, South Africa, which links Johannesburg,  Pretoria, Ekhuruleni and O.R Tambo International Airport. It was built to relieve the traffic congestion in the Johannesburg–Pretoria traffic corridor and offer commuters a viable alternative to road transport, as Johannesburg has limited public transport infrastructure.

Launching the boat from Kommetjie slipway and heading north to Hout Bay, we'll take in spectacular scenery along the way. There's the Kakapo shipwreck, the fascinating geology and unique views of the famous Chapmans Peak Drive.  There's time to jump ship for a quick snack in the Hout Bay harbour before heading off to snorkel with seals. We'll end the day sharing a drink and some salty sea tales!

We will explore Lion's Head as no other tourist can experience it without the local knowledge. We will hike on an off-the-beaten track to visit lots of small caves depending on the fitness and technical hiking level of each guest. Staying on a small contour path you will not encounter any other hikers until we reach the chains. Here we will join the 'other' hikers and summit Lion's Head. During the hike I will assess the comfort level of each guest to decide if we are going to take the easy, moderate or hard route up to the summit. Minor and easy rock scrambling will be involved.
