ABOUT ARTIST

Seher Shah’s practice uses experiences from the field of art and architecture to think about space, landscape, objects and aesthetics through drawing, printmaking and sculpture. In recent years her work has been concerned about the language of drawing and how to represent an experiential nature of space.

ABOUT GALLERY

Most recently spotted in Green Art Gallery, Seher Shah’s work constructs perspectives not just as a drawing method, but a process that allows for disaffected elements alongside the idealism inherent within architectural and cultural aesthetics.

ABOUT ARTIST

Daniel Zeller’s obsessively layered paintings and drawings exploit the visual and compositional potentials of texture and line. Using only graphite or ink and acrylic paint on paper, Zeller is grounded in traditional media, but his insistence on a limited range of materials encourages him to push their compositional limits.

ABOUT GALLERY

Michel Soskine Inc. was founded in 1984 in New York and in 2005 expanded opening a new gallery space in Madrid, Spain. The gallery specializes in 20th and 21st century art.

ABOUT ARTIST

Julie Mehretu’s work is about layers: the physical layering of images, marks, and mediums, and the figurative layering of time, space, place, and history. Working in a large scale, Mehretu draws on the 21st-century city for inspiration, transferring its energy into her gestural sweeps of paint and built-up marks in ink and pencil—often transposed from projections—and condensing seemingly infinite urban narratives, architectural views, and street plans into single unified compositions.

ABOUT GALLERY

Marlborough Gallery was founded in London in 1946 and is widely recognized as one of the world's leading modern and contemporary art dealers. Marlborough has an international presence with major galleries and offices in Madrid and Barcelona to complement its long established venues in New York and London. Marlborough Graphics publishes editions with both gallery and non-gallery artists in various media such as etching, photogravure, silkscreen and woodcut.

ABOUT ARTIST

Donald Sultan’s large-scale still life paintings are filled with rich iconography—provocative objects, like bulbous fruits, set against a tar-black background. Although primarily classified as a still lifes, Sultan maintains that his works (despite their representational objects—flowers, lemons, eggs, buttons) are first and foremost abstract.

ABOUT GALLERY

Established in 1984, the Serge Sorokko Gallery has built a solid reputation on its fine collection of post-war and contemporary art by internationally recognized artists. Located in the heart of Union Square in downtown San Francisco, the gallery features a range of original work - from painting and sculpture to works on paper and photography.
