ABOUT ARTIST

Valeska Soares was born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, in 1957. Her sculptures and installations utilize a wide range of materials—including reflective mirrors, antique books and furniture, chiseled marble, bottles of perfume—and draw on both her training in architecture and the tools of Minimalism and Conceptualism. Contrasting polished, industrial materials with more ephemeral ones, Soares’s work invites viewers to engage all five senses, evoking the poetic and elusive themes of desire, intimacy, language, loss, personal memory, and collective history.

ABOUT GALLERY

Fortes D'Aloia & Gabriel features both young and experienced Brazilian artists. It’s unique program allows for 12 programs a year, workshops, book launches, and screening along with its involvement with international art fairs and exhibitions.

Galeria Nara Roesler

ABOUT ARTIST

In films, multimedia works, and photographs, Cao Guimarães evocatively captures everyday events and quiet actions in urban and rural settings. He emphasizes the interplay between sounds and images, demanding that his audience listen to and view his films with equal concentration. “Image and audio are like flour and eggs for the cake batter that goes in the oven,” he says. “Each work has a measure in which mystery is fermented.” His works are poetic interventions into human experience, including video explorations of billowing tarps, marching ants, and soap bubbles.

ABOUT GALLERY

Nara Roesler is a leading international art gallery that represents Brazillian and other foriegn artists who emerged in the 1950s, along with artists who were influenced by them. They pride themselves for their select and rigorous exhibitions program and quality of art production.

ABOUT ARTIST

Sandra Vásquez de la Horra studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Valparaiso from a very young age, before moving to Santiago, where she joined Chile Crea, an artist and student movement in favour of democracy. S. Vásquez de la Horra is known for her humorous and unique body of work, both prolific and extremely original. She traces her drawings on sheets of paper, which she then dips in wax, covering them with a delicate patina that softens the lines; this process makes the lines more palpable, and increases the paper’s material dimension. These works are highly personal and imbued with multiple cultural and artistic references, and conjure up a magical and grotesque world populated by strange creatures.

ABOUT GALLERY

Opened in 2012 in South Korea, the Wooson Gallery was specially built to show off contemporary artwork to the mass and introduce famous artists within the movement. The contemporary collections are chosen with a high standard of knowledge of international art production to educated art lovers, professionals, and critics alike.

ABOUT ARTIST

Claudio Bravo was eulogized by the New York Times as a painter whose adeptness with realism made his paintings verge on trompe l’oeil. Though Bravo originally won acclaim as a portrait painter, he became particularly known for his still lifes featuring crumpled paper, animal skulls, and exotically dressed figures. These, Bravo said, were heavily influenced by Spanish old masters like Francisco de Zurbarán, Juan Sanchez Cotán, and Diego Velázquez.

ABOUT GALLERY

The Forum Gallery has been located in New York city since 1961 and is a founding member of the Art Dealers Association of America. The gallery focuses on humanism by maintaining exhibits and art fairs that showcase contemporary pieces for viewers and critics to experience.
